In your opinion, what does our current healthcare system do well?
Out system do really well on equipments and resources. For me that comes from a
different background in a poor country it is really impressive all the amount of physical
and medical resources we have in this country. Not just talking about instrument and
availability to de any kind of testing like MRI, Xray, cancer treatment. It is also impressive
for me the knowledge of the doctors and nurses, at least for the majority of them.
2. In your opinion, what needs to be improved for the healthcare system to
provide better care for patients?
Our current health care system needs a more direct contact with the patient.
Sometimes you go to a doctor and they barely touch you or look at you. That makes
the patients feels insecure and less important. You feel you are just a number to get
bill on the insurance. You feel like they only worry about charging the money. FFor
myself experience, that I have been working on the lab, everytime I go they order
the same kind of panels which gave me the impression that doctor only prescribe
the same lab analysis to everyone instead of stop to think one moment and listen to
the patient symptoms to properly prescribe labs.

How do you think demonstrating each of these competencies could improve
patient care?

Values: Uphold the dignity, privacy, identity and autonomy of person while maintaining
confidentiality in the delivery of team-based care.
I choose this as my value because being sick is such a delicate moment for a person,
especially if they are weak, unable to perform as usual, they could feel unvaluable or
different. Delivering such a compassionate and privacy service for them could be really
appreciate and make a difference on their experience as a patient.
Roles: Collaborate with others within and outside of the health system to improve health
outcomes.
I choose this one because I practiced everyday. Either between departments like
pharmacy when they need to know specific time for a lab result to calculate proper
medication dosage or even collaboration with a different hospital because they got a
patient for transfusion with antibodies and they need to know history of out results to
make their work easier and faster.
Communication: Use communication tools, techniques, and technologies to enhance team
function, well-being, and health outcomes.
This one goes kind of align with the one on role. Communication is key on my work.
Starting with the nurses when we have a lab results that needs immediate attention or
even inter hospital communication because of a difficult patient and they need to know
previous results.
Teams: Appreciate team members diverse experiences, expertise, cultures, positions,
power, and roles towards improving team functions.
I choose this one because working with people with quite of a experience and are willing
to teach or guide you on your learning process is a bless. That si why now that I have
obtain some sore oof experience I always help the other around for the benefit of the
patient results. School is a beginning and theory but actually working with expert or
experience people is the real learning.
